Background

Catholics celebrated the 5th anniversary of Laudato Si’ on May 24, 2020. Since 2021, the Covid pandemic has brought to light in an even stronger way the cry of the Earth and that of the poor, who suffer the consequences the most, highlighting that everything is interconnected and interdependent and that our health is not separated from the health of the environment in which we live.

We need a new ecological approach. Only by working together, will we be able to create the future we want: a more inclusive, fraternal, peaceful and sustainable world. There is hope. We can all cooperate, each with their own culture and experience, each one with their own initiatives and capacities (LS14)

On May 24, 2021, the Dicastery of Integral Human Development launched a Laudato Si’ Action Platform to initiate ‘a people’s movement from below’ that can really bring about the radical change needed given the urgency of the crisis in our common home…

The Laudato Si’ Action Platform (LSAP) is an action-oriented 7-year ecological journey of conversion in the spirit of integral ecology intended to support and empower families, communities and institutions to achieve total sustainability. All continents and local Churches have promoted the LSAP. The Executive Committee of the Association of Major Religious Superiors in Taiwan approved the launch of the LSAP in Taiwan in January 2022. All the Religious Congregations and Communities as well as their respective Institutes are invited to join the LSAP with their own action plans.
